Somatic
Healing Circle

Somatic Circle is a curated event introducing participants to the world of Somatic Work. Somatic Work is a holistic, experiential-body-oriented, trauma-informed approach that teaches you how to tune into your body's sensations and unlock the emotional residue stored within. This work recognizes the deep connection between mind-body in healing.

You will be going on a deep and mindful journey of your nervous system. You will be exploring and discovering your current capacity (tolerance) for many things - to hold stress, to be present, to navigate conflict and to grow with the teachings and practices you will learn, etc.

When we push beyond our current capacity, our nervous system becomes overwhelmed and we go into shut down. So we will look at what is our current capacity for conflict, for joy, for relationships, for community and "how much of all of that can I hold or experience before it overflows and overwhelms". Remembering and honoring that each person has a different capacity and that capacity can change from moment to moment, week to week, or from one teaching or practice to another.

Through a gentle approach of various group-led somatic practices, education, and philosophies, participants will learn to understand their nervous system, the language of their body-sensation-allowing them to recognize how past experiences are held within. You will learn to build your somatic awareness, build your capacity and build a foundation of regulation - while understanding your limits, your ability to hold emotions, and how that fluctuates.

This work gently cultivates safety, awareness, and embodiment, supporting healing beyond symptom management. By embracing all parts of the 'Self'-its complexities and contradictions-it fosters curiosity, compassion, and a deeper connection to the whole 'Self" and with others.

*Though this work is therapeutic, it is not therapy and the Somatic Circle is for educational purposes only and is not a replacement for mental health counseling or therapy.

Community Guidelines & Agreements

1. To Be Present:

We agree to be present in the most degree possible and that that is good enough for today. That we will be present and not go into judgement for myself or others. When we can be build our capacity to be present with ourselves, we build our capacity to be present for others as well.

2. To Be Able To Make Mistakes:

We agree to allow ourselves to make mistakes rather than holding ourselves to a standard of perfectionism, we will start with what we can do right now. "What can I do right now to build my capacity so that I can be a better version of myself tomorrow"?

This gives you the grace to not have to hold yourself or others to the standard of perfectionism. So that when we come together we are not holding each other or ourselves to a standard of perfectionism. That allows us and others the space to grow and to actually be in community and be in relationship with others.

3. To Personable Responsibility:

We agree to our own personal responsibility in the energy we bring and our reactions.

That our emotional state is our responsibility and not dependent on or the responsibility of another to fix or repair. That we can let other people be responsible for themselves, with compassion and knowing that they have their own capacity to build, and "I'm not responsible for that." There is no space here for blaming others for our reactions or saving others through advice giving.

4. To Agency of Self-Care and Right To Pass:

We agree to practice self-care. Though we encourage full participation with all present, we also encourage you to check in with your body. If you do not have the capacity or feel comfortable to participate in a practice or to share we encourage you to do what feels right and comfortable for you.

5. To Keep This A Safe Space:

We agree to keep our shares to only what we are noticing and learning right now in the present through these somatic and mind-body dialogue exercises. We do not share any stories from the past or go into religion, politics, or anything outside of the focus of this somatic circle.
